What does the Earthquake Commission cover me for and what does AA Insurance cover me for?

If you have home insurance with
AA Insurance – HomeCover

AA Insurance cover:

  • If the damage to your home is over the EQC limit, we will top up the EQC cover to rebuild your home to the same size and specifications
  • We also cover some things that the EQC do not cover:
    • Temporary accommodation for your family and pets 
    • Loss of rent if your rental home is not safe for your tenants to live in
    • Fixed or in-ground swimming pool, BBQ, clothes line, sauna or spa, paths and paving, walls and fences

EQC cover:

  • House - up to $100,000 (+GST)
  • Retaining walls within 60m of a building
  • Water tanks forming part of a water supply
  • Swimming pool or spa pool, tank or water tower that is an integral part/within a residential building
  • Septic tank

If you have contents insurance with
AA Insurance – ContentsCover

AA Insurance cover:

  • If the damage to your contents is over the EQC limit, we will we will top up the EQC cover to replace your contents with new equivalents under our  New For Old replacement benefit
  • We also cover some things that EQC do not cover:
    • Jewellery and works of art

EQC cover:

  • Contents - up to $20,000 (+GST)

If you have a Comprehensive vehicle insurance policy with
AA Insurance

AA Insurance cover:

  • We will assess and repair damage to your vehicle or replace it for the Agreed Value and get you back on the road as quickly as possible
  • If you need a rental car while your vehicle is being fixed, we can organise this for you
  • If you have our Guaranteed No Claims Bonus For Life, your No claims bonus will not be affected by this event

EQC cover:

  • No cover

If you have vintage vehicle insurance with AA Insurance

AA Insurance cover:

  • We will assess and repair damage to your vintage vehicle or replace it for its Agreed Value

EQC cover:

  • No cover

If you have boat insurance with
AA Insurance

AA Insurance cover:

  • We will assess and repair damage to your boat or replace it for its Market Value

EQC cover:

  • No cover

If you have caravan, trailer or motorbike insurance with AA Insurance

AA Insurance cover:

  • We will assess and repair damage to your caravan, trailer or motorbike, or replace it for its Market Value

EQC cover:

  • No cover
