The two levels of ContentsCover:

Accidental Damage Cover

Covers you for the big events, as well as the smaller accidents.  With Accidental Damage cover you’ll be protected for Defined Events (as listed under Defined Events Cover) as well as accidental damage or loss to your contents.  This gives you the most comprehensive protection available.

Defined Events Cover

With Defined Events cover you’ll be protected for loss or damage caused by fire, lightning, storm, flood, burglary by violent or forced entry, malicious damage, vandalism, natural disasters and more.  This type of insurance protects you for the big stuff, for a smaller premium.

Your personal contact at AA Insurance who looks after you when you make a claim. They’ll keep you fully informed, making sure things stay on track and hassle-free.

New for Old

If something you own is stolen, lost or damaged beyond repair, we’ll replace it with a brand new item*, regardless of the age of the original. So if your five year-old TV is stolen, we’ll replace it with a brand new TV.

*This benefit excludes clothing, footwear and cosmetics for which you will be paid the current value. Items that can be repaired may be repaired instead of replaced, and if a suitable new equivalent item isn’t available you will be paid the current value.

Lower your premiums with Flexi-excess

With flexible excess options on your home and contents you can choose a higher voluntary excess in return for lower premiums – and you’ll only have to pay that excess at claim time.

Legal Liability Cover

If you accidentally cause damage to someone else’s property – for instance, if you accidentally start a fire which burns the neighbour’s house – we’ll protect you against any claim they make, up to $1 million.

Natural disaster cover

If the unexpected happens and your contents are damaged by a natural event, we’ll top up the cover provided by the EQC to ensure your contents are fully covered.

Contents in storage

We cover your contents while kept in a professional storage facility*.

*Cover is limited to Defined Events for a maximum of 12 months.

Removal of your contents

We will pay the reasonable cost of moving your contents to temporary accommodation, and/or a professional storage facility if your home becomes unfit to live in as a result of an event covered by your policy, and your contents are at risk of loss or damage.

More policies means more savings

Insure both your contents and your home with us, and you’ll receive a discount on both policies.
Then, if your contents and home at the same address are damaged at the same time, you'll only have to pay one excess for the claim.
