Can I increase my excess to lower my premium?

This is called a voluntary excess and it can really suit people who don’t claim very often.  Generally the higher the excess you choose, the lower your premium. You pay the voluntary excess on top of the standard excess.

Voluntary excess options include:

Vehicle insurance (Comprehensive only): $500, $750, $1,000, $1,500 and $2,500
House insurance: $300, $500, $750, $1,000 and $1,500
Contents insurance: $300, $500, $750, $1,000 and $1,500
