Chris Curtin
Chief Executive,
AA Insurance Limited
Chief Executive since 1995.
Chris is charged with managing the company’s growth, profitability and return on shareholders’ investments. Chris holds responsibility for AA Insurance’s reputation and for ensuring that all staff are focused on providing an outstanding customer experience.
Chris managed AA Insurance’s transition, in 2002, to a joint venture between the New Zealand Automobile Association Incorporated and Promina Direct Group, which became Suncorp when Promina merged with Suncorp Australia in 2007. He also oversaw the amalgamation of AA Insurance and SIS Insurance.
Chris is an Associate of the Australian Insurance Institute and holds a Graduate Diploma in Business (Administration) from the University of Auckland.
Martin Fox
Deputy General Manager, Head of Marketing and Distribution,
AA Insurance Limited
Deputy General Manager since 2002.
Martin’s current role has a strong operational focus, including marketing and sales and service, with the overarching goal of enabling the company to focus on delivering exceptional service to all its customers.
Martin joined the executive management team of AA Insurance in 2002, following the company’s transition to a joint venture between the New Zealand Automobile Association Incorporated and Promina Direct Group (later Suncorp). Prior to that he worked as General Manager, Direct Operations for Royal & Sun Alliance.
With over 19 years experience in the industry, Martin has a wide understanding of insurance issues.
Originally from Swansea, Wales, he is an Associate of the New Zealand Insurance Institute and holds a Diploma in Direct Marketing from The Institute of Direct Marketing, United Kingdom.
Suzanne Wolton
Head of Strategy, Pricing and Corporate Affairs,
AA Insurance Limited
Head of Strategy, Pricing and Corporate Affairs since 2009.
Suzanne is responsible for developing corporate strategy, product pricing, research and underwriting. She is also charged with managing the company’s overall relationships and communication with government departments, consumer groups and other stakeholders.
Suzanne has worked in the insurance and finance industry both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand for the last 15 years, giving her an enviable depth of industry knowledge. Prior to joining the company, in 2007, Suzanne was Finance Director at Hill Samuel Asset Management in the United Kingdom and before that, Head of Investments at Century Life PLC.
Suzanne received an Honours degree in Law in the United Kingdom and is a Chartered Accountant. She is a member of the Insurance Council of New Zealand’s Regulatory Committee.
Simon Hobbs
Motor Product Manager,
AA Insurance Limited
Motor Product Manager since April 2009.
Simon is responsible for growing AA Insurance’s motor portfolio and leads the company’s drive to provide customers with superior protection and exceptional customer service.
Simon has over 10 years experience in the New Zealand insurance industry. He first joined AA Insurance in 1997 as part of the company’s graduate programme, starting in customer service and subsequently worked in a variety of roles with the company. In July 2004 he moved to Australia to work at AAMI, returning to AA Insurance in August 2005 as Innovation Manager. From there he moved into the role of Customer Manager as part of the leadership team in January 2007 as Pricing, Planning and Analysis Manager.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in International Business, from Massey University.
Val Davies
Home Product Manager,
AA Insurance Limited
Home Product Manager since 2006.
Val is responsible for growing the company’s Home Insurances portfolio and ensuring customers receive superior protection and an outstanding customer experience.
She has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry and has enjoyed five of those years with AA Insurance, previously as an underwriting manager.
Originally from Tottenham, London, England, Val worked for Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance in London before moving to New Zealand in 2004.
Val is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute UK, and holds qualifications as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), Chartered Insurer (UK) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Lancaster University.
