Covering you for the unexpected
Loss of rent
If your tenants can’t live in the rental home due to an event covered by your policy, we’ll cover lost rent —$20,000 or up to 12 months— while the rental home is made habitable again.
Sudden water damage
We'll cover the cost to repair the rental home due to sudden water damage, for example if the washing machine hose comes loose and floods the floor.
Accidental damage
If your rental home suffers sudden and unforeseen damage or loss, we’ll cover the costs to get it back to the . For example, if a tenant accidentally damages the walls of the property when moving furniture, we’ll take care of the repairs.
Fire damage
We'll cover the cost to repair or rebuild your rental home if it's unintentionally damaged or destroyed in a fire.

Full cost of repairs or rebuild
Our benefit allows the full repair, rebuild or replacement of the damaged portion of your home, even if the cost exceeds your sum insured. See our policy wording for full details of cover.
Weather damage
We’ll repair or rebuild your rental home after a storm or flood. We’ll also act on behalf of the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake (NHC) to manage any damage to the land.
Earthquake and other natural hazards
We’ll manage natural hazard claims on NHC’s behalf. Your rental home will be covered for damage by an earthquake, natural landslide, volcanic activity, tsunami, and hydrothermal activity or fire resulting from any of these. See our policy wording for full details of cover.
Giving you peace of mind
Hidden water damage
We'll contribute up to $2,000 towards the cost of repairing damage caused by a hidden leak or overflow from a leaking internal pipe, water storage tank or waste disposal pipe that you can't see and couldn't discover immediately. Your excess will be deducted from your settlement amount.
Optional extra: Excess-free glass cover
Adding Excess-free glass cover to your policy means you won't need to pay an excess if your claim is only for glass damage to windows, doors, or built-in furniture.
Optional extra: Extended landlord cover
You can add extra protection onto your policy that includes up to $20,000 for damage or loss caused by malicious damage or theft, cover for up to 8 weeks of lost rent if tenants leave suddenly or are evicted, and up to $30,000 cover for illegal drug use or manufacturing at the insured address. This cover only applies if you have a current tenancy agreement in place at the time of the event - see our policy wording for details.
