Covering you for the unexpected

Fire damage

We'll cover the cost to repair or rebuild your home if it's unintentionally damaged or destroyed in a fire.

Burglary and malicious damage

You'll be covered for damage to your home from a burglary and, if the security of your home is at risk as a result, we'll pay to replace your keys or locks or change your key codes.

Accidental damage

We'll cover the costs to repair or rebuild your home after sudden and unforeseen damage or loss. For example, if a tree falls on your roof, we'll cover the damage to your home.

Sudden water damage

We'll cover the cost of repairs to your home resulting from a sudden event, like a burst pipe causing damage to flooring.

Helping you get back on your feet

Weather damage

We’ll repair or rebuild your home after a storm or flood. We’ll also work with the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake (NHC) on NHC's behalf for damage to your land.

Earthquake and other natural hazards

We’ll manage natural hazard claims on NHC’s behalf. Your home will be covered for damage by an earthquake, natural landslide, volcanic activity, tsunami, and hydrothermal activity or fire resulting from any of these.

Full cost of repairs or rebuild

Our benefit allows the full repair, rebuild or replacement of the damaged portion of your home, even if the cost exceeds your sum insured. See our policy wording for full details of cover.

Giving you peace of mind

Hidden water damage

We'll contribute up to $2,000 towards the cost of repairing damage caused by a hidden leak or overflow from a leaking internal pipe, water storage tank or waste disposal pipe that you can't see and couldn't discover immediately.

Cover for minor renovations

We'll cover you for minor renovations and unfixed building materials for renovations under the total value of $75,000.

Optional extra: Excess-free glass cover

Adding Excess-free glass cover to your policy means you won't need to pay an excess if your claim is only for glass damage to your windows, doors, or built-in furniture.

Claiming
If you have been in an accident

First, make sure that everyone is safe and out of danger - call an ambulance, the police or other emergency services departments if necessary.

Make sure your home is safe and secure

If your home has been damaged, make sure everyone involved is safe and, if you need to, call emergency services. For example, if there has been a theft, burglary or vandalism, or an attempt at these, call the police immediately. Once it's safe to do so, you should make sure your home is secure.

Submit a claim

Report your claim online, and one of our Customer Managers will get in touch within five working days. Or call us on 0800 500 216 if your situation is urgent - it will take about 15 minutes to lodge your claim. Let us know if your home is no longer safe or secure.

Things to keep in mind
What do I need to make a claim?

You will need your policy number, the details of what has happened, and the details of anyone else involved. If you’re the main policy contact you can claim online, otherwise call us on 0800 500 216.

If your home is uninhabitable

If you can't live in your damaged home while it is being repaired or rebuilt, we'll cover the reasonable cost for for you and your family as part of your claim.

Gradual damage

Gradual damage is deterioration to property caused over time. As our policies are designed to cover sudden and unforeseen damage, we don't cover damages such as wear and tear, corrosion, mould, gradual deterioration, or depreciation of your contents. Limited cover is provided for hidden water damage.
