Family fishing fun in Tauranga

30 November 2017

AA Insurance was there in Tauranga to help youth charity Blue Light New Zealand run their final Kids’ Gone Fishin’ event for the year at Tauranga Bridge Marina.

The national Blue Light Kids’ Gone Fishin’ series for 2017 came to a close on November 5th with Tauranga home to the last event for this year. A small but enthusiastic crowd of local families and tourists to the area gathered at Tauranga Bridge Marina where there was a tasty sausage sizzle, face painting for the kids and handlines for those without a fishing line and it was all for free.

AA Insurance has been supporting youth charity Blue Light since 2010, and involved in the Auckland Kids’ Gone Fishin’ event from the beginning. This year we decided to get on board with the events’ national sponsorship, and extend our involvement by helping Blue Light deliver all 13 free events to families throughout New Zealand. Our first trip to Tauranga was full of fun and laughter as we mingled with attendees who gave fishing a go.

Blue Light runs activities throughout the year to keep young people free from drugs, alcohol and violence, and Kids Gone Fishin’ is one of their most popular events that’s held annually across different locations nationwide.

More fishing events means more opportunities for Kiwi kids to experience something new in a safe environment, build positive relations with their parents or caregivers, police and community, and most of all, have fun!

In the New Year, we start the fun all over again beginning with the largest Kids’ Gone Fishin’ event happening in Auckland over the Anniversary Weekend on the 27th & 28th of January down at Wynyard Quarter. So if you’re in the area, come down and join us!
