Levels of Cover
We offer three levels of cover:
Comprehensive – Our most popular cover for your vehicle if you or anyone else accidentally damages it.
Third Party, Fire & Theft – Cover for your vehicle if it is damaged by fire, stolen, or you accidentally damage someone else’s property with your vehicle.
Third Party – Basic cover if you damage someone else’s property with your vehicle.
How can Comprehensive Commercial Vehicle insurance help ?
Whether your vehicles are on-road, off-road, on wheels or tracks, if you use vehicles for any part of your business then accidents, damage or theft can halt your business in its tracks.
You can choose to insure your vehicle for the Agreed Value, which is the amount we agree to insure your vehicle for when your policy begins and at each renewal.
We’ll pay you your Agreed Value if your vehicle can’t be repaired or is stolen.
If your vehicle accidentally damages someone else’s car or property, we’ll pay up to $20million if you’re legally liable for the costs.
Towing, road clearing and load recovery
If you have an accident and your vehicle, including the load it is carrying, is damaged, we will pay up to $20,000 towards towing your vehicle and its load to the nearest place of safety, cleaning up any debris and spillage on the road, and recovering any lost or fallen load.
Transport and accomodation
If you have an accident and you are not able to drive your vehicle, we will pay up to $5,000 to get you and your passengers home safely, or for temporary accommodation if you are unable to return home.
Hire of a vehicle after the theft of your vehicle
If your vehicle is stolen and not recovered we will pay up to $150 per day, up to a total of $3,000, so that you are able to hire a similar replacement vehicle.
If your employee needs to use their own vehicle in the course of their duties or employment, we’ll pay up to $75,000 per vehicle if it is involved in an accident and there is no other insurance.
Please note this can only be claimed on if the employee does not regularly use their vehicle in the course of their employment with you.
Comprehensive Policy Benefit
Excess-Free Glass Cover
Excess-Free Glass is included in Comprehensive Commercial Vehicle Insurance policies. This means you won’t have to pay an excess if your claim is only for accidental damage to your windscreen or windows. Please note, Excess-Free Glass Cover is not included in Third Party and Third Party, Fire and Theft Commercial Vehicle Insurance policies.

Who is covered to drive my business vehicle?
Our car insurance policies have an open driver policy, unless a special term has been applied to your policy. This means that any licenced driver who has your permission to drive your car, will be automatically covered, provided they comply with our policy conditions and any applicable licence conditions. For example, drivers must not have any unacceptable traffic or criminal convictions and must not have had any unacceptable claims or accidents (for example, a driver using the car illegally).
Please see your policy document for more information on all policy conditions that you and your drivers must comply with.
It’s important to note that excesses relating to age and driving experience may apply to you and your drivers. Please see your policy schedule for excesses that may apply and to determine if a special term has been applied to your policy.
Any drivers who will be regularly driving your car should be added to your policy. This is a quick and simple process and ensures you know they are covered should you need to make a claim.
If you have any questions about who is covered to drive your car or if you’d like to add a driver to your policy, please contact us. Alternatively, you can add a driver to your policy using My AA Insurance.
Does Commercial Vehicle insurance cover an employee's injury if they are injured while driving a company vehicle?
Commercial Vehicle insurance does not cover an employee's injury as a result of driving a company vehicle. You'll need Employers Liability insurance for this cover. Employers Liability Insurance provides cover for your legal liability if an employee injures themselves at work.
