The Big Little Sponsorship is back and it's bigger and better than ever!

The AA Insurance Big Little Sponsorship is back! We’ve joined forces once again with our partner Eden Park and rugby legend and campaign ambassador Keven Mealamu to deliver the best Big Little Sponsorship yet. This year, we’re going nationwide, calling for nominations from deserving primary schools across the country to win a much-needed boost to help shape the next generation of sporting stars.

About the Big Little Sponsorship

Our Big Little Sponsorship celebrates our partnership with Eden Park by championing grassroots sport in schools and giving something back to the communities around us. This year, two winning schools, one from the North Island and one from the South Island, will receive a $10,000 sports grant which they can put towards anything that helps their students reach their sporting dreams. It could be a new turf for the rugby field, extra coaching sessions, bus hire to get the little ones to the game, or new sports equipment for the players. With these grants, the winners will be able to boost their own sports initiatives within the school and create more opportunities for students to get involved and excited about sport, learning valuable lessons along the way.

We’re excited to have Keven back on board as an ambassador for this campaign. Keven is an advocate for getting kids involved in sport at an early age and will be visiting the two winning schools for the big reveal party. “The Big Little Sponsorship is a cool way to champion sport in schools and help invigorate the passion for sport.” he says. “It’s good for kids to play sport; they talk to people and learn to work together. They also learn respect for their team mates and opposition. And they learn that it takes hard work to achieve something worth achieving”. Sport is important for our kids and our communities, and your school could be one of our two 2021 Big Little Sponsorship winners!

Nominate your local primary school!

Nominations are open from Monday 17th May to Saturday 19th June 2021. The 2021 Big Little nominations will then be evaluated against judging criteria and a shortlist will be assessed by a judging panel with representatives from AA Insurance and Eden Park Trust, and Keven Mealamu. The judges will have the difficult decision to choose two winning schools, who will be announced in August.

Our 2019 winner

The 2019 sponsorship received a huge response, with a 76% increase in nominations and a 40% increase in the number of schools from the previous year. Our 2019 winner, Manurewa West Primary School, was chosen by our judging panel for their values and passion for sport, and the effort they put into ensuring the wellbeing of their students. You can see some of the students of Manurewa West in our 2021 campaign, which we filmed at the school with a few of the Sports Academy students.
