Double win at prestigious industry research awards

AA Insurance Insights team won twice at the prestigious industry Research Association Effectiveness Awards.

Auckland, 15 April 2021 – AA Insurance has won twice at the prestigious industry Research Association Effectiveness Awards (RAEAWARDS) for its effective use of insights in decision making, including initiatives in response to Covid-19.

Together with research partner, Colmar Brunton, AA Insurance scooped the financial services category for its Covid-19 Support Initiatives research; Building Trust and Supporting Customers through Covid-19 and beyond.

“In response to Covid-19, AA Insurance developed several initiatives, including a hardship fund, premium freezes and premium rebates,” says Aaron Dickinson AA Insurance’s General Manager - Strategy, Insights & Analytics, “which were explored and optimised with customer and staff research by our partner, Colmar Brunton.

“This research provided us with clear direction, as well as the confidence, that launching these support initiatives was indeed the right thing to do and would be understood to be from a truly genuine place.

“As a result, we received thousands of appreciative emails, social posts and messages from customers who had benefitted from one or more of the initiatives. It really was incredibly humbling and proved to us how invaluable quality research is when making some really big decisions.”

The icing on the cake, he says, was that the company was also named Insight Organisation of the Year. This was for successfully championing the effective use of insights, demonstrating the use of evidence-based decision making and deep consumer insight to make decisions that benefit both the business and customers.

“It is amazing to be recognised this way and a true testament to how the organisation embraces and values insights,” he says.

The RAEAWARDS are held every two years by the Research Association NZ to celebrate the contribution of those undertaking research evaluation, data analysis and insights generation. There were 13 awards overall this year; seven category awards, three industry recognition awards and three special judges’ awards. The judges agreed that the standard of entries was exceptionally high with an almost record number of 54 entries.
